Marvin- 2 words- Intermarriage Rate. I don't think Judaism is really
surviving in America!

Perhaps another of the secrets of Jewish Survival was the willingness to accept 
and
welcome converts (cf Ruth) which orthodoxy seems reluctant to do today.  We 
will all
have Jewish grandchildren if we welcome the spouses of our Jewish children, if 
they want
to convert.  A little cool dilution of Jewish blood is probably a good thing 
too.

Ps I think the very tension between orthodox and progressive Jewry also 
contributes to
Jewish survival
