I've heard many the traditional fiddler playing in the Celtic, Appalachian,
Cape Breton and other styles with a powerful, robust, rhythmically driving
sound that propels listeners to the dance floor. All this using none, or
extremely little vibrato. Their power comes from the bow. Not a thin sound
at all.
