Re: Germans and Klezmer

hi.
i've been lurking around here awhile and have been somewhat following this
subject (skimming most of the post on it). sorry if i'm repeating anything that
anyone has already said. my perspective on this subjective is much different
than everyone elses because i'm only 17. i don't have any direct connections
to the holocaust (because my immediate family left europe between 1800s and
1920) except that i am jewish and have grown up reading books and learning
about it in hebrew school. also, the town i've grown up in is very unique.
people of every "race" and religion live and go to school together. i'm not
saying it is perfect because in my high school you can see the segregation.
because of my experiences here, i've learned about many different types of
people and how to deal with their different views. anyway, i'll make my point
short. i agree with steven fischbach's post. to me, saying that germans
shouldn't play klezmer music would be like saying that white people could not
perform african dance, which is done a lot at my high school.
