Gnesin:The Jewish orchestra at the Ball

The composer M. Gnesin wrote a Suite: "The Jewish orchestra at the Ball at 
Nothingtown" based on Gogol. At the end there's a piece called "The Galop". 
Is somebody on the list familiar with the music. If so, could somebody tell 
me if the melody (a very ironic one) stem from a Jewish Song?  It sounds so 
awfully familiar to my ears. I would be glad if somebody could help me!
