If anyone is interested, I found a 1912 dance manual online, all in French,
that gives a version of Pas d'espan.

>From what I can tell, (not fluent in French), the source indicates that it
was danced both in France and Russia, and the French version was different
than the Russian. Other information I have on it indicates it was danced
all over Europe.
