Anyone here from Chicago?

This is inspired by Leonard Koenick's response below -- I'm trying to
organize an informal Yiddish club in Chicago -- There is a Yivo
Layenkrayz here but it is very advanced. What I have in mind would be a
bit different -- offer more for beginners while involving experienced
speakers as well. Not better, not worse (I hope) but just a bit
different -- and hopefully include a lot of song material. If this
might interest you, please get in touch with me --

I'm not sure where it will go but I'm trying to determine interest.

Also, I'll be attending the Jewish Radio Project event at the North
Shore Performing Arts center this evening (April 25) sitting in Section
10, Row J (wherever that is) I'm about 5-7, old enough to be
someone's bobbe (which I am) with brown hair, brown eyes, and I'll wear
my little red-white-blue rhinestone Mogen David pin and a crossed
US/Israel flag pin too! If you see me, say hello!

Best wishes,

Joan Levin

Or better yet, why not just contact some Yiddish speakers in Pittsburgh
and organize your own class. You don’t need the university to study.

Nu, Yakov, why don't you go to the people in charge of schedulling
classes and tell them what you want? If you can get, say, ten people
together who want to learn something specific, perhaps they'll hire a
prof for you. Maybe...
