Dear Bob:
All of his recordings (that I know of) say "Benzion", except for one
issued in Israel which uses "Ben Zion."
I would think that Witler spelled it the first way, or else
the recordings issued in his lifetime would surely show otherwise.
I like YIVO transliteration myself, but there are times when it must be
abandoned,
due to a previous universal acceptance of another transliteration system;
i.e. "Sholom Aleichem" remains as it was; librarians are not using
"Sholem Aleykhem",
are they?
