List of Top 100 Jewish Music Stores and resources

As per your request here is list of the top 100 stores and catalogers that
deal in the kind of Jewish music that this list discusses. This list is
based on gross sales products purchased through our distribution branch over
the last three years of business.  There is no way to objectively quantify
what the sales of these businesses are in any other way, since there are no
market studies at this time and there is no soundscan data available from
any Judaica stores in the country.

    Sound scan information has revolutionized the mass-market industry -
because it reports actual unit sales based on bar-code information scanned
at the point of purchase. Billboard charts were impacted by this system
since it objective indicated how many units of each items were actually
selling through. In the Judaica market, 95% of the stores are not
computerized and many of the independent label products are not bar coded -
so there is no method of data collection and there is no data to collect. As
a result independent label products virtually don't exist in the eyes of the
mass market. The only thing that they are aware of are the products that are
released by the majors. As a result, their perception of what is viable is
quite skewed. This list also does not include stores that deal exclusively
in frum music. Even though frum music sales are quite brisk and in some ways
outsell the contemporary American artists and "Klezmer" music. These
accounts do not appear on this list since I distribute very little "frum"
recorded music. So I ask forgiveness from any Brooklyn and Monsey stores
that do not appear here. Although I do not think they would have all that
much that appeals to this list. I hope this is helpful.
