RE: KlezFest London 2002 and Ot Azoy - one week Yiddish course



Here is wishing you all a sweet New Year

And I am pleased to announce the two summer schools that JMI is presenting
this July at the University of London. KlezFest was great last year and by
popular demand is back again plus a special Yiddish language crash course.
We felt a new model should be tried for those that can only afford to spend
one week. The slogan is 'even your clarinet will sound better when you have
learned some Yiddish'. Also special to this course is that Zalmen Mlotek
will be there to work on Yiddish pronunciation and expression in song, and
create a Yiddish chorus, which will continue into KlezFest.  There is a
reduction for those that want to attend both courses.  See information

2nd International Summer School in Klezmer music and Yiddish culture
Sunday 21-Thursday 25 July 2002
Five days of instrumental, ensemble, song and dance workshops and
performances as well as sessions on Yiddish theatre, poetry, film, humour,
history and folklore, for musicians and non-musicians, taught by an
international faculty of the most renowned and inspiring teachers and
musicians from Europe and America, including Zalmen Mlotek, Adrienne Cooper,
Merlin Shepherd, Zev Feldman, Jeff Warschauer, Deborah Strauss, Frank
London, Michael Wex and others.
