yes, but guys were playing the clarinet prominently in jazz long after
Bechet switched (ironically, it wouldn't be until John Coltrane and
Steve Lacy -- a Jew, born Lakritz -- took up the straight horn that the
soprano found its way back into the jazz mainstream.
