In Joel's message, there was the following paragraphs about an album that
Kalich's husband and daughter donated to the library:

>programs, flyers, business records, clippings, scripts, sides, scrapbooks,
>photographs and three-dimensional images pertaining to her career in the
>theater during the years 1905-1935. There are also the papers of both her
>husband Leopold Spachner and her daughter Lillian Kalich Spachner which
>cover the years 1882 to 1955.
>Notes: The majority of the materials are in English, though a great many
>clippings and some scripts are in Yiddish, and some early official
>documentss are in German and Hebrew.

>Notes: I. Personal Papers; II. Professional Papers; III. Photographs; IV.

>AND THEY THREW OUT THE ALBUM AFTER FILMING IT????????
>
>How disgusting!!! I hope that anyone who ever considers donating anything
>there, will always remember that.
>
>They could have offered it to other libraries, to YIVO, to universities, or
>even sold it at auction houses to raise money for the library, returned it
>to the family, given it to Jewish museums, etc., etc,.
>
>It tells you how little they understand and appreciate the Yiddish
>material. Bertha Kalich was a major Yiddish star.

>We should really warn everyone about what they do with such precious
