USE A MICROPHONE!!!
you only get one voice! don't ruin it! for soothing, try hot water with
equal amounts of honey and cider vinegar. It tastes awful but does soothe the
throat. Also, N'ICE losenges are great. But better off not to overuse and
abuse in the first place. Treat yourself to some voice lessons! Only teach a
song if your group is quiet and listening. Once they know it don't try to
sing loud enough to be heard over the entire group! (you can even just mouth
the words once the group is singing) Sing in a key that is comfortable for
you, even if it's not perfect for everyone in your group. Do a slow quiet
song every once in a while! Involve other people... if you have a really
enthusiastic participant, call him/her up to lead a song or part of a song -
they will enjoy participating and you will enjoy the break!
And as I said at the beginning, USE A MICROPHONE! Insist on one whenever
possible!
Good luck to you!
