Dear Josh...
I suggest that you see an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist...if you are getting hoarse
then you are abusing your chords and you should be checked out for vocal chord
nodules before they get any worse. I have had to have two surgeries on my
chords
and it's not much fun. Prevention definitely is best...with some vocal training
and a clear checkup from someone who can look down into your chords...you
shouldn't lose your voice at all. I can sing all through High Holy Day services
and all through Hava Nashira and my throat is fine...my voice remains intact.
Good luck
