Depending on the application you use, there are a variety of file formats
you can use. .AIFF is typically the one you'll be working with.

Zip disks only have a capacity up 100MB (more like 96MB) and they're not
reliable for long-term storage. CD-Rs are better and can last a very long
time and are an even cheaper media. I'd stay away from CD-RWs as they are
not as reliable as CD-Rs.
