RE: London International Jewish Music Festival
- From: Jewish Music Institute <jewishmusic...>
- Subject: RE: London International Jewish Music Festival
- Date: Fri 12 May 2000 00.05 (GMT)
May I announce that booking is now open for the London Festival. The details
of over 80
events, concerts, conferences, illustrated talks, guided walks, exhibitions,
workshops
are now up on the JMI website and can be searched by artist and venue, and soon
also by
genre and date.
The opening concert at Sadler's Wells features the renowned Swiss Klezmer
ensemble Kol
Simcha (Voice of Joy). It is a fitting way to open the Jewish Music Festival
that
promotes dialogue and understanding between cultures and that for the following
five
weeks, brings to London, Jewish music and culture from Switzerland, the
Americas,
Russia, Lithuania, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, Israel, France and Britain, by some
of the
world's finest performers and interpreters of klezmer, folk, jazz, liturgical
and
classical Jewish music. The Festival will be officially opened by Lord Brittan
of
Spennithorne.
There is Klezmer from Argentina, Switzerland Europe and North America as you
will see.
Best wishes
