Several people have, however, taken advantage of the fact that a "mechanical 
device" cannot be copyrighted when anthologizing certain pre-electronic 
recording peformances from old 78's (the recent Milton brown box set is one 
of those).  That, coupled with the fact that probably nobody in the archival 
department of a major label has ever heard such names as Tarras or Brandwine, 
has likely helped a few things along the way.  I seriously doubt that BMG is 
even aware of a label like Global Village.
