Re: Hatikvah

According to Shimon Cohen, a prominent Israeli composer, arranger and musical 
scholar whose family was  involved in many aspects of the establishment of 
the State of Israel,  the tune for Hatikvah was taken directly from an old 
Russian folk tune called "The Donkey and the Cart."
