Last fall there was a lengthy protracted thread about Hatikvah.
Perhaps the list operator has a copy of the thread.

Both HaTikvah and Smetana's The Moldau are based (probably coincidentally)
on the same folksong. It pops up quite frequently in Eastern Europe
and even in Spain among both Jewish and non-Jewish sources.
Musicologists have also pointed out its similarity to the
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star melody. Change the latter to the minor
mode, fill in the leaps and you get the former.
