Ironically enough (to me at least), Chris is an old friend. I used to job in
his bands when I was a kid in college (I was a bass player in my youth). I
haven't seen him in years, except periodically on local cable access with his
family Greek band. Chris is very definitely Greek, and a drummer. Now I am
curious too as to what his real name was. I think that he would be pleased to
know that his name is being bandied about on the Jewish Music list (I once
supplied him with a stock of Jewish songs that could be played at weddings
and bar mitzvahs).
I am also curious about my own name (come to think of it) which was something
in Lithuanian and changed at Ellis Island. It sounds British, and there are
some Jewish Barnetts in England, but I would be surprised if we were related
(I once had a Jewish British cabby named Bernard Barnett take us to Gatwick
when we were running late?he actually got Northwest to hold our flight till
we got there. I was impressed, to say the least.)
Best wishes,
Steve
