Re:Judeo Arabic/North African music

Judith, I'm mystified (but I'm assuming this will be relevant to all 
...for whom it's relevant):  Your liner notes for "Me vaya kappara" (on 
Gerineldo III) don't _at all_ indicate that it's a rendition of the 
Shirat Hayam--seems to be no connection at all.  (You describe the song 
as "a piece of light social satire"--not clear satire of what.)  What 
gives?
