For what it's worth, I didn't come to klezmer music through dusty 78's or my
Grandmother's lullebyes. I came to it through listening to the klezmorim in
the late 70's on WFMT. The rest followed. I still love to give "Streets of
Gold" a spin now and then, especially while looking at Robert Crumb's
immigrants. Some people never liked this interpretation of klezmer, but I
always found history better when leavened with a bit of humor.
