[HANASHIR:15659] RE: More Software and technical questions

Ilana,

When you say "upload from MD to PC", Adrian is right. However, you can
RECORD from MD to PC. This involves a digital-to-analog conversion and
back again to digital, through your computer's sound-card
input. Cakewalk's Sonar does this, as do a number of much cheaper
utilities. I don't keep up with Microsoft's many products, but the Sound
Recorder that comes with Windows might well do this.

Sonar, as well as the cheaper Cakewalk offerings, offer a staff view for
MIDI, letting you transcribe. It's a little limited in features, but you
can definitely compose, arrange, and print music, within limits. Finale is
really the standard for producing sheet music professionally.

Good Shabbos,
Andy
