[HANASHIR:15657] More Software and technical questions

Dear friends,
I am trying to upgrade two different areas in my work.
I have copied almost everything ever written on these
subjects at Hanashir in a reference file for when I
was ready and am very grateful for all of your help,
experience, and observations. I do however, have some
more questions and am hoping some of you out there can
further help me. My apologies if these subjects have
already been covered recently and I missed them!

My goals are to:
1 ? Use software for music writing.
2 ? Be able to upload from MD to PC in order to create
mp3 and/or wav files and also burn CD?s. 

With regards to the first goal, I was about to
purchase Finale. However, in trying to solve the
second MD- to- PC issue, I was looking into software
programs only to discover none exist (except for
Adrian and Kathy?s suggestions to use SoundBlaster
Extigy, and Joanna?s suggestion of Sound Forge). In
fact, the MD website has a petition out to SONY
complaining that this feature does not exist at all.
However, while looking at software programs I became
aware that some of them offer the whole thing in one
package. This means I would not need Finale, nor my
MD, but could have software that would record directly
into my PC, then be able to write and print the music
for me as well from the recorded file. I assume BTW
that this disallows being able to write music that I
can?t myself play or sing for the recording.
Can anyone enlighten me on this software with regards
to reality, quality, user ease and compatibility of
these programs (with the SONY Vio laptop that I am now
using)?
