[HANASHIR:14677] Re: guitar advice (I say steel string)



In my 35 years of playing guitar, I've never played with a classical neck
or with nylon strings (unless it's the only one around).

What's the point?  Who says that that is "the basics"?  Just because a
classical was invented first?

It depends where he's going with this guitar playing.  If he "wants to be
a rock-n-roll star" -- making him do classical with nylon is going to
dampen his enthusiasm.  If he wants to be a serious guitar player and
study music, that's a whole different story.

I'd go with a guitar that can take silk-n-steel strings, and let him have
fun with it.
