Re: Chords and Scales



In my theory courses, I always make a distincition between modes (which are far
more than scales) and modal scales, which are more typical of more recent 
musical
practices.  And, yes, the chords that support modal scales are very different.
Debussy often harmonizes melodies in modal scales with chords that don't 
entirely
belong to the mode.
