Shirona,
You've asked a good question that I too have been trying to research from my
own perspective. To date I have not had any luck and I've even been enlisting
the assistance of some radio DJs who have greater access to Arabic music than I
do. The closest I have come has been Abdullah Ibrahim's "Water From An Ancient
Well." But that is a jazz instrumental piece and won't help you in this
matter. Please let me know if you find anything as I very much am interested
in adding some peace pieces by Arabic composers to The Afro-Semitic
Experience's repertoire.

Shalom...
Going over my reference books, looking for material on Yom Ha'atzma'ut... I
realize that we must have hundreds of songs with the word "Shalom" in them. I
mean songs in Hebrew written by Israelis, wishing, yearning for peace. So I
was wondering - are there songs in Arabic expressing similar wishes...? I
don't know for sure - but I doubt it. I think this would make an interesting
"study".
Really depressed about the situation,
Shirona
