RE: Nerdy question: Yiddish songbooks

With 3884 messages in my inbox at the moment, I missed that Abi was looking 
for dates of books.  I just thought she was looking for books.

Sorry, no, I can't help except to say the obvious.   With the Tara Books 
you obviously call or write Tara.  Same goes for the other publishing 
organizations.

This kind of research belongs in a research library and not on a mailing 
list.  None of us have time for this and no one can date books without 
using the YIVO archives.  There are many academic mailing lists with top 
scholarly experts for peers and graduate students to ask each other 
questions about their particular academic domain, but unfortunately, this 
is not such a list.  If you ask the question of who are the top Jewish 
ethnomusicologists in the world, I would bet any money that none of them 
subscribe to this list for a variety of reasons.  There's no harm in asking 
here, but don't fool yourself into thinking that you can get definitive 
answers to be included in a dissertation.

BTW, I have been meaning to ask for a while now, who are the top Jewish 
ethnomusicologists in the world nowadays?

Reyzl,

I believe that Abbi's posted list is only those books which are
undated, not the 200+ items.

Perhaps with your library and expertise you can help Abbi directly
with this project which no doubt will ultimately benefit those of us,
like you, who are interested in Yiddish songs.
