While I, too was somewhat shocked to see this eye-catching advert on the
JML,
I can't help think that Marvin's "hope" for having the doctor kicked off
the list
has more than a little to do with self-interest and the "psychem" in his
own e-mail address.

I find this advert, even though it is "sneaky", germane to the JML
in that it relates directly to the song "Shir Hanef" ("Reefer Song") by
klez superstars The Klezmatics, recently much discussed on this list.

Hanef/hemp/was burnt in the Temple
during Friday afternoon services to send the worshippers home
for the <shabes> meal with a good appetite.

The first paper made by the People of the Book (or in the world, for
that matter)
was made from hemp.
The Latin "cannibus" derives from the Hebrew/Arabic <kanbis>, which
appears in the Bible
many times, but never in a "just say no" or "zero tolerance" context.
