RE: Julio Inglesias Jewish?

I think that you are right about everything you said. It's definitely a
song for Jews to make them feel better about not having Christmas. In
fact, I can't quite believe, one, how Jewish it is and, second, that it
became a hit on the hit parade. Amazing. Haven't seen any of his movies
which probably also have some Jewish reinforcement. The other amazing
thing is that this comic is now making a fortune playing and portraying
himself as a Mama's boy. I guess he is trying to improve the image of
such Jewish men, something akin to Fran Dresher maximizing on a negative
stereotype all because she wants people to think of Jewish women as sexy.
  All interesting.

Reyzl,

I have a copy of Adam Sandler's song, so I guess that I thought that
it was of enough Jewish significance to add to my collection.

I was referring to the practice when I was of Bar Mitzvah age of
giving boys books of naming Jewish athletes, apparently to develop a
sense of self-esteem in us. I've even seen a web site that does that.
(Sorry -- don't think I bookmarked it.)

I guess that Adam Sandler had the same sort of experience growing up
and (although I haven't heard the song since at least last Hanukkah)
as I recall that's what it is. (Just listened to a bit, and it is
essentially a list of people who are Jewish for those who feel left
out because they don't have a Christmas tree.) I don't think that the
importance of Jewishness to those mentioned was a factor in making the
list; that is, identifying oneself as being Jewish wasn't necessary to
be identified as Jewish (and, I guess, some sort of role model).
