Of course he was Jewish. Son of a cantor.

I thought Buffalo, NY-bred Harold Arlen was Jewish (please correct me if
I'm wrong). Just as a shameless plug for my adopted hometown, Buffalo
also was the hometown of Jack Yellen (helped pen Yiddishe Mama & Happy
Days are Here Again).

Buffalo, NY
BTW, did you know Buffalo is the only word in the English language you
can construct an entire 5 word sentence out of--
"Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." Used as a noun (twice),
adjective (twice) & verb (once). How 'bout that?
>>> So, you can understand my super excitement about Arlen whom I
totally adore (even if he wasn't Jewish).

Dear Reyzl,
Can you tell me when & where you saw the Leiber & Stoller Documenter? As
you
know, they met at what is now Hatikvah when Jerry was working here, and
I want
to get as much into on them as possible. How many people would believe
that
Jerry Leiber was pushing Jewish music before he co-wrote "Hound Dog". By
the
way, there was an excellent doc on Chicago Blues which included a nice
segment
on the Chess Brothers...also "nice" Jewish Boys.
