Re: Contemporary Jewish Musicians: Are they making Jewish music? (e.g., Uri Caine)

By the track listing of "Uri Caine's Mahler thing" (see below) any
Jewishness of the Uri Caine & Gustav Mahler album, "Urlicht/Primal
Light" would probably derive from the Jewishness of Mahler's work.

I did hear a lecture once on the Jewishness of Mahler's work, and I'm
pretty sure that the lecturer referred at least to a passage in
Mahler's First Symphony, but I don't remember much more offhand.

track listing
1. Symphony No 5 Funeral March
2. The Drummer Boy
3. Now Will The Sun Rise As Brightly
4. I Often Think They Have Merely Gone Out!
5. Symphony No 1
6. Symphony No 2
7. I Went Out This Morning Over The Countryside
8. Symphony No 5
9. The Drunkard In Spring
10. Who Thought Up This Song
11. The Farewell
