Hava nagila

Moshe,
I once discussed this with a Lubovicher. He told me they didn't
sing it any more because they considered the tune had now become _treyf_,
it was so secularized. Another person, not a _husid_ but very knoweledgeable
about Jewish music, told me, yes it may have been a nign among the
Lubovicher (Chabadniks), but not specific to them. I don't know what text
they sung it to -- certainly not Hava nagila", which is secular.
Itzik-Leyb

Lastly, I have heard that Hava Nagila is an old Chabad Nign, but the Chabazkers

don't sing it because of their Rebbe's forbidding.

has someone else heard about it?
