According to Idelson it was a Sadigora (Bukovina) hassidic melody
brought to Jerusalem. He wrote it down in 1915. In 1918 he needed a
popular tune for his mixed choir (alsi in J'lem). And that's how it
got really started.  It was then considered to be a Palestinian song!
