[HANASHIR:3769] Re: Question for Songleaders

Hi Elliot,

I think there is no comprehensive shiron...though many come close...I
suggest putting something together...slightly above the song sheets
level...create your own shiron which includes your repertoire and
bind it in something which can be added too...something with three
rings perhaps so the problem of it being outdated can be easily
amended with supplements. Also, when putting together the initial
shiron make sure you put a lot of stuff that you don't know so well
so your book doesn't become outdated to you so quickly...also also
it'd be a good idea to ask some of the folks who will be
participating in the kumzitz to offer lists of songs they'd like to
see included. If it's going to be a regular ongoing thing, you might
as well make the most extensive shiron you can...of course it will
inevitably be out dated days after it's complete...but such is the
way of songleading.

Of course you'll need all song writers permission to include there
songs...but that goes without saying here on the Hava Nashira
list...especially since it's said so much here.

....

Hey on that other thing...today was the last day of camp at the North
Valley JCC and it really was tremendous...we ended the camp with the
same amount of ruach we began it with...lots of parents...a family
night...food...tons of singing...this has been one of the most
amazing camp song leading experiences I've ever had....two of the
kids who were wounded last week have been superstar campers all week
long...everyone is doing VERY well and we're very sad to see the
summer end...I've never seen so much crying at the end of a day camp.
Woo hoo.

Thanks for all the supportive letters and stuff.

xo
