Karen, I agree wholeheartedly with your last point - God hears our prayers no
matter what melody we use and whether we are able to speak, read or neither.
And as I have said in another response I just posted, I think there is a place
for fun joyous upbeat music in the synagogue...however I think it is
disrespectful to use a melody from a football cheer to sing about our
relationship with God. It's not what God thinks when God hears it that's the
issue for me; it's what we're thinking about when we sing that tune!
