Hi Everyone,

Mostly I've been lurking on this list -- I'm enmeshed in too numerous
dialogues on some other lists.
I presently am the principal of a large Conservative Hebrew School on Long
Island (and have been involved in Jewish education as teacher, principal,
music teacher, camp counselor, etc... since I was a senior in high school
(and *that* was a long time ago...). I began in Jewish education doing
Jewish music and teaching Hebrew at Fairmount Temple in Cleveland (where I
was born and raised)! I am a former ed psych/linguistics professor (both in
the US and in Israel) and have taught Hebrew, ESL and French. I am also,
currently, a rabbinical student. Two years ago I had a student pulpit and
served as rabbi/cantor. But student pulpits pay about a third of what I
can earn as an experienced principal, so it's been back to school for me
for now. Last year I worked tons of part-time jobs (so I could actually
have time for study) including music teacher in a large Manhattan
synagogue. It was probably the most fun I've had in years!!!

Now I NEED a music teacher for my school in Long Island. (It's hard to wear
two hats at the same time in a school of 450 children!!!). I'm looking for
someone -- perhaps you know of someone? for 2-3 afternoons a week who can
teach Hebrew holiday, shabbat and Israeli songs as well as some of the more
contemporary music of today. Our Zimriyah is scheduled for Yom HaAtsma'ut
and will be dedicated to Israel's 50th anniversary.

I've been enjoying the list. And for those of you who were at CAJE at
Stanford and sang with Debby in the CAJE Chorale on the last night --
"Hello" and "wasn't that fun?" I had a fabulous time!

So... if you have a MUSIC TEACHER candidate for me, please run and call
them. ASAP!
THANKS!!

Ilana Rosansky
