The large poster boards are a great idea.  I usd to put song lyrics on 
large sheets of poster board, one song per board, put them on an easel 
and thus, no rattling of sheets, etc.  However, that doesn't take care 
of the problem that the kids should have music as well as words in front 
of them  For that, you probably need an overhead projector set up of 
some type.  Hope that helps,
