My dear friend and admired colleague Beth Levin has the briliant habit 
of preparing her "songsheets" on large posterboard (she can often get 
several songs on a side), and has the kids take turns holding them up.  
Thus: no songsheets in their hands, they can all look up to see the 
text and the songleader, and the kids are involved.
