Well put. After all we live in a secular/Christian type society and,
particularly for Hebrew School kids, they spend almost all school hours at
a secular/Christian-type school.

The time is short, so Judaism needs to be taught as much as possible in
the few allotted hours.

BTW, I was musing on this question, and though of a nice comeback to the
kids.

Ask them:

1. How many of you konw the name of Jesus' mother?

2. How many of you know the name of Moses' mother?

And conclude: "and that's why we're going to spend time on learning Judaism."

(As I'm writing this, you could also ask: how many of Jesus' 12 disciples
can you name? How many of the 12 Jewish tribes can you name?)

(Or, simply: How many Jewish religious thinkers can you name who lived in
the past 750 years -- excluding the past 100?)

(Or: what can you tell me about what the (so-called) New Testament is?
What can you tell me about what the Gemara is?)

(Very sadly, there are too many examples . . . . )
