Bravo David,

If more readers voice their complaints, something might come of this...I am
always surprised at how many people will agree with such a letter as yours, but
when it comes time for them to write letters and send faxes, they either
"don't have the time" or don't want to get involved.

I must also say that the problem can also be found with the Jewish papers. I
have sent CDs to newspapers all over the country and all I can say is, Thank
G-d for George Robinson at the Jewish Week, the only one who will review Jewish
music on a regular basis. More often than not, I get some feeble excuse from
an editor such as, "well, we did a music column seven months ago so we
probably won't do another until Chanukah!"

Last Saturday, we sponsored "An Evening With Theodore Bikel" to coincide with
the release of his new Yiddish CD. We had a standing room only crowd. The
audience consisted of some of the most influential people in the Los Angeles
community in film, music, and philanthropy. A member of the County Board of
Supervisors presented Bikel with a proclamation on behalf of the County of Los
Angeles.

We sent out press releases to all trades and to the major Jewish paper in Los
Angeles. When I spoke to the Arts editor, I was told they would not cover the
event because "we've done many article on Bikel in the past." Were is the
logic?
