What is wrong with the poem "Halicha Lekesarya" (Eli
Eli) by Hannah Szenes, which was set to music by David
Zahavi?
It is not a later "version" of the Yiddish song, but a
completely different text that has nothing to do with
the Yiddish lyrics!
FWIW: The first "version" of the Yiddish song was a
psalm, which was also entirely in Hebrew :-)
