Re: accents



This is, to the concernation of some, done in Hebrew as well.

But ... caution is required here: Switching the accented syllable in a
Hebrew word may change its meaning or its tense from future to past, etc.
This is a particular problem in liturgy and many chazzanim were not educated
enough to know the difference. This is situation is changing much for the
better now, but a look at many older compositions and performances yields
the extent of this problem.

(I am not commenting on pronounciations and inflections literally invented
for medieval Hebrew poetic license.)
