NEW TRENDS IN MODERN JEWISH SONG
Sunday, March 24, 2002
7 & 9pm
An evening of Jewish lider celebrating the release of two new Traditional
Crossroads CDs:
The Zmiros Project, featuring Frank London and Lorin Sklamberg of the
Klezmatics and pianist/theremin player Rob Schwimmer, presents the trio's
very personal take on the rich repertoire of Shabbos table songs. The sequel
to their first recording of Yiddish spirituals.
Still Soft Voiced Heart is the work of Canadian gospel/jazz singer Dave Wall
and jazz pianist Marilyn Lerner (both of The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band),
who have created original contemporary settings of texts by the some of the
most beloved 20th century Yiddish poets.
Presented with the support of the Consulate and Government of Canada.
Both cds (among others) will be sold at the shows, and are currently
available at fine cd stores and websites everywhere.
