Peggy Davis' Russian lyrics to "Vu iz dos gesele, vu iz di shtib..." are
almost the traditional ones. Skuditski, e.g., published the following version
in 1936:
Gde eta ulitsa, gde etot dom,
Gde eta devushka, chto [= shto] ia vliublen [= vlyublyon]?
Vot eta ulitsa, vot etot dom,
Vot eta devushka, chto ia vliublen.
There's also a Polish text:
Gdzie jest ta uliczka, gdzie jest ten dom?
Gdzie jest ta dzieweczka, co ja kocham?
Tu jest ta uliczka, tu jest ten dom,
Tu jest ta dzieweczka, co ja kocham.
(I've also seen Hebrew and, if memory serves me well, Hungarian versions.)
The Polish text above is almost grammatical; the Russian, not very.
