Oscar Hammerstein II

>From "Getting to Know Him: A Biography of Oscar Hammerstein II" by
Hugh Fordin

p.16
"Allies (his mother) was brought up an Episcopalian and had her sons
baptized in this faith. Although se seldom attended services, she saw
that the boys followed some religious observances. They fasted on
Good Friday and fish of Fridays, but their religious training was not
strict. Neither Willie (Oscar's father) nor his family were
practicing Jews; they entered a temple only when someone had died.
Later in life Oscar was a "religious" man in a sense, but he never
joined a formal religious group or attended weekly services."

Is his music Jewish Music? I don't think so.
