My wedding is July 1, 2001, and I'm still looking for music to play before
the ceremony, and immediately following the ceremony. I'm looking for very
ethic pieces, and not necessarily Jewish (but predominantly). I recently
bought Voices of Life by the Bulgarian Women's Choir-Angelite, and I plan on
using a few songs off of that, but I was wondering if anyone knows how I can
get translations of some of the lyrics?
Also, I'm thinking of using Farewell to Shabbat, sung by Marta Sebestyen for
part of the processional. For example, for the part during which the groom
and his parents, the groomsmen, and my bridesmaids walk down the lawn (it's
going to be an outdoor wedding). I was thinking of using "Firn di Mekhutonim
Aheym" for my own processional (as Yitzhak Perlman's daughter did). Because
of budget limitations, I will only be using recorded material for the
wedding. I was wondering if there is a better recording (w/o the kid's
intro) than the one on In the Fiddler's House? I'm not set on using these
pieces, so any suggestions for wedding processional pieces is gladly
welcomed. I will also be using The Sephardic Experience by the Renaissance
Players.
Anyway, now that you all have a basic idea of what I'm looking for, perhaps
you could let me utilize your Jewish music expertise? Any help/suggestions
would be very welcome. Thank you! --Jerusha
