Utt-Da-Zay

[Sigward Birnbaum <maubnrib...>]

Hi everybody,

I recently bought a CD featuring jazz tenorist Chu
Berry. There is a song on it called "Utt-Da-Zay"
(recording headed by Cab Calloway), which an
aquintance of mine says is originally an old Yiddish
song "Ot azoj najt a snajder". Can anyone tell if this
is correct? And how come it was recorded by a popular
swing singer? Is there more of its kind?
