Re: A QUERY

One reference work to recommend:

'the world of music' Vol.38(1) - 1996
Journal of the International Institute for Traditional Music (published in
Berlin)
has the following useful articles on MUSIC OF THE ROMA

Svanibor Pettan - Gypsies, Music and Politics in the Balkans: A case study
from Kosovo
Carol Silverman - Music and Power: Gender and Performance among Roma
(Gypsies) of Skopje, Macedonia
Katalin Kovalcsik - 'Roma or Boyash Identity . The music of the "Ard'elan"
Boyashes in Hungary.

I cannot find anything about the Odessa region.
