Billy Joel -- Jewish Music?

I've just been listening to "Blessings of Beauty" an entertaining
flute/piano CD by Amy Ziegelbaum and Laura Leon-Cohen (a friend of
mine from Camp Ramah at the Berkshires -- she was the head music
counselor there for several seasons). Its contents includes some
classical Jewish works (Rossi, Weill), some obscure material (Amram's
Lecho Dodi from Friday Evening Service), and Billy Joel's Lullabye
(Goodnight, My Angel).

The notes say, "Blessings of Beauty" is a unique exploration of
beautiful and passionate music inspired by the Jewish soul....

This collection brings together ethnic, classical, liturgical and
American popular styles, blending them into a rich and meaningful
musical tapestry.

The music ... [includes] Billy Joel's Lullabye -- the lullaby song
being, perhaps, the most penetrating and moving musical expression of
any culture.

Do list members hear this piece as "music inspired by the Jewish
soul"?
