A student came in with a very good question: is there a book on the history
of Israeli folk/pop music in English?
I've found chapters and references. Bits and pieces. I've also got a number
of books on Israeli composers doing classical music or influenced by
Israeli folk song, but who has written an actual history of the folk/pop
genre? Also, very few of the anthologies give dates of composition. Does
anyone know of a listing of titles of popular Israeli music with dates?
Some introductions give some dates on some songs in Tara publications, but
nothing consistent for every selection.
Also: does anyone know of a website that lists all the various festivals,
winners and songs entered? Kdam/vision used to have a site but it seems to
be down.
Thanks for the leads.
